How to Make Your Facebook Contest Successful

If you have been thinking about using Facebook to run a contest or giveaway, you've come to the right place. Facebook offers a way for businesses to generate leads and drive sales. It allows you access to almost 35 million daily active users, making it a great tool that can help your brand grow exponentially.

Tips To Make Your Contest Successful

People love free stuff, but just giving something away for the sake of it won't get you anywhere. Figure out who your audience is, what they are interested in, and how your product will solve a problem for them. This will help you develop a prize that will appeal to them. The more appealing the award, the more traction your contest will get.

Make sure you have a clear "call to action" so people know how they can participate in your contest or giveaway. Your call to action should be simple, easy to understand, and even easier to join in. You should also have a clear timeframe for when the campaign ends - contestants need some time to enter! Nobody wants to answer 10 questions just to enter a giveaway.

All of those people were interested enough in your company and contest to give their information. After your contest is over, you'll have a lot of data from the people who entered the contest. Don't discard this info! It's a valuable source of information. It's an excellent source for marketing info, target audiences, and who your ideal customer is.

Facebook's 7 Rules for Contests and Giveaways

  1. You are responsible for all details of your contest and giveaways. This includes making sure the terms and conditions are clear and that your campaign meets all the regulations that regulate contests in your region.
  2. Make it clear that Facebook is not involved with or supporting your campaign in any way, shape, or form. You can include this disclaimer on a post promoting your campaign, on the contest landing page, and in the terms and conditions.
  3. Any contest that requires a customer to purchase a ticket or buy a product to enter is not permitted. Only contests that involve a random draw or a competition based on skill or effort are allowed.
  4. Also, contests that require likes, shares, tags, and mentions are similarly not permitted.
  5. Only pages, groups, and events can run a contest campaign. Personal profiles should not attempt to run a contest.
  6. Obtain consent for any data collected, including user-generated content. This includes names, addresses, emails, and any materials submitted as part of the contest. If you skip this part, you are not permitted to use any of the data - the data is valuable, so don't skip it!
  7. The last "rule" is less of a rule and more of a declaration. Facebook will not assist, run or manage this campaign for you. Specifically, you cannot hold Facebook liable for any adverse events arising from the contest.

For the most current and up-to-date rules, always consult the Terms and Conditions associated with Facebook.

Running a contest on Facebook is not as complicated as you might think. It's essential to know these to avoid breaking any legal regulations or breaching agreements with Facebook.

Facebook is such an essential social media tool for any business - it's important to follow the terms and conditions to not jeopardize your account!
